Camp TLC Goldens puts love and care into every litter

About Camp TLC Goldens

We breed dogs in a loving home so they can thrive for the rest of their lives.

We named Camp TLC Goldens for the love and care we put into every puppy. We’re not just raising dogs; we’re sharing our family with clients looking for a calm, social, and loyal best friend.

We are R.L. “Buff” and Gail Benson, owners, and operators of Camp TLC Goldens. We recently changed our name from TLC Puppy Paradise because, Google.

We have been Silicon Valley’s trusted Pet Care Professionals since 1989. Together we bring over 50 years of education and experience to pet care.

Our promise is to treat both you and your four-legged kid as part of our family. We will always do our best for you, speak the truth, and never gouge you with our fees.

The mission of Camp TLC Goldens, with God’s help, is to breed medically sound, smart pups with common sense that become your best canine companion and family member possible.

Our granddaughter (by affection) Ruby lives with us and raises the puppies with so much love that the puppies gladly share back with everyone they meet! She imprints every litter with Early Neurological Stimulation, socializes them, and potty trains them.

Healthy dogs are our #1 priority.

Early Neurological Stimulation

The U.S. Military, in their canine program, developed a method that still serves as a guide to what works in raising confident, easy-to-train dogs. The Bio Sensor Program was designed to improve the performance of military dogs. Later, it became known to the public as the Super Dog Program.

Years of research indicate that early neurological stimulation exercises could have significant and lasting effects. Studies confirm there are specific periods early in life when neurological stimulation has optimum results.

The first period begins on the third day of life and lasts until the sixteenth day. It is believed this interval of time includes rapid neurological growth and development, crucial to individual puppies.

The Bio Sensor Program comprises early neurological stimulation to give dogs developmental advantages. It utilized exercises to stimulate the neurological system.

Each workout involves handling individual puppies every day, performing the complete exercise series before moving on to the next dog.

Neurological Stimulation Program Details

Descriptions of the five exercises developed in the Bio Sensor Program are below. The duration of each of the five exercises is three to five seconds.

The daily handling of each pup involves the following exercises:

1.

Tactical Toe Stimulation

While holding the pup in one hand, the handler gently stimulates the pup by tickling between the toes on any one foot using a Q-tip.

It is not necessary to see that the pup is feeling the tickle.

2.

Head Held Erect

By using both hands, the handler holds the pup straight up, perpendicular to the ground.

In this upward position, the head is directly above its tail.

3.

Head Pointed Down

While holding the pup firmly with both hands, the handler reverses position and holds the puppy with its head pointed down towards the ground.

4.

Supine Position

The handler holds the puppy in both hands with its muzzle pointed at the ceiling and its back resting against their palms.

While on its back, the puppy can struggle or sleep.

5.

Thermal Stimulation

The handler places the puppy, feet down, on a damp, cold towel.

The handler doesn’t restrain the puppy from moving around or off the towel.

Benefits of Stimulation

Researchers observed five benefits in canines exposed to the Bio Sensor Program stimulation exercises.

The benefits noted were:

  1. Improved cardiovascular performance
  2. Stronger heartbeats
  3. Stronger adrenal glands
  4. More tolerance to stress
  5. Greater resistance to disease

In tests of learning, stimulated pups were more active and exploratory than their non-stimulated littermates and dominated in competitive situations.

Secondary effects were also noted regarding test performance. In simple problem solving tests using detours in a maze, non-stimulated pups became extremely anxious and made many errors.

Stimulated littermates were less disturbed or upset by test conditions. They were calmer in the test area, made fewer errors, and showed only occasional distress.
